Romance and Rhinos « One Man's Opinion Blog

Romance and Rhinos « One Man's Opinion Blog: I wrote the article below about 3 months ago. Considering what has happened since then I think I should have followed my head, not my heart! Speaking of which, I also followed my heart in a romantic sense, which was also a disaster of note. Firstly I believed I had a job that would take me many miles from my complicated girl. We had not seen each other for a month and I emailed her the details of the job. She then phoned and asked me to come stay with her until I had to leave. I did my public transport thing and we had a wonderful weekend together.

The LoversPlus Disaster « The Mexican's Lifestyle

The LoversPlus Disaster « The Mexican's Lifestyle: The evening started off well enough. My complicated girl and I went to an Art Show at UNISA Art Gallery. We got a lift from her ex-boyfriend, who was accompanied by a friend of his, a 69-year-old gay chap. (Let us not go there!) The art on display was not very nice as it was a series of sculptures made from dead animal bones, skulls and skins. The good part was the caterers had gone all out and the crowd was not as large as anticipated. The food was excellent and for a change they had Coke and not sickly sweet fruit juice as most openings do. The wine was bottled not box, so the other three were well content.

Just a common Soldier « One Man's Opinion Blog: Just a common Soldier
(A Soldier Died Today)

He was getting
old and paunchy
And his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
Telling stories of the past.

The Chronicles of the Mexican Horse Thief II – Renaissance « One Man's Opinion Blog: This is where my life really started falling apart, slowly at first and then escalating at the speed of light. Mark’s cute little song ‘we all gonna die, we all gonna die’ nearly came true for me so many times it is hard to remember them all.

The “Just for Today” Philosophy « One Man's Opinion Blog: "The “Just for Today” Philosophy

Just for today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle all my problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Baggage « One Man's Opinion Blog: "Having attended many strange classrooms; dragged, kicking and screaming into a lot of them, I do believe I learned a lot. One of the most important was to get rid of baggage. It is amazing when one opens ones eye’s how much shit, we willingly, if un-wittingly drag about with us."

A large percentage of this type of people, sadly, have another character flaw. In order to feel better about themselves they need to point out others faults, which, of course, are far greater than their own; which they haven’t even bloody looked at yet!"

Soldiers all… « One Man's Opinion Blog: "In 1996 the South African army was still busy integrating the SADF and the MK (Umkhonto we Sizwe) into the new South African army called the SANDF. Bitter enemies now had to work side by side. The MK was not too clued up on the South African’s weapons, yet Mandela wanted to show the world that our country still had a viable defense force."
